Estimating Your Sustainable Energy Potential

Convert your residual waste streams from an operating cost into a renewable resource. Methane generated by the NewBio system can be used to fuel boilers, internal combustion engines or as a replacement for natural gas.

NewBio has divided the potential sources of energy associated with food plants into three categories: Wastewater; Waste Solids, fats, oils, and off-spec or out-of-date product; and DAF Float.

Select the data for each category that most closely correlates to your application to get an estimate of the energy value of your waste streams.

Food Plant Waste Stream Inputs:

To determine the energy value associated with all waste streams enter the data for each category and click on the calculate button. To determine the value of a specific category of waste, enter the information under Energy Costs and information for only that specific waste category and click on the calculate button. Compare the Outputs to estimate the value associated with each category of waste.

Wastewater:
Enter average flow rate in gpd:

Enter BOD or COD in mg/l:
mg/l  BOD   COD

Waste solids, fats, oils, off-spec product, out of date product:
Enter average lbs/day:

DAF Float:
Enter average amount of float in gpd:

Output:

Assuming 95 % conversion

If biogas is converted to natural gas replacement value:
_________ cubic feet of biogas/day
_________ therms/day from biogas
Value: $_________/day

If biogas is used for electricity generation with heat recovery:
_________ kwh/day electricity + _________ therms/day equivalent in heat recovery
Value: $_________/day
